Travel by train
While travelling by train, you can see the landscape, trains are also a good way to travel around Europe, especially short distances. If the destination is farther away, you can travel by night train and connect the overnight travel to the trip.

You may not have thought of that, but an overnight ferry trip may be the best option, especially in the Mediterranean and Scandinavia.
